I downloaded and installed AOL for the first time since probably 1996. With the service becoming free I figured I'd give it a shot. I started out by choosing a screen name. Nothing has changed. Every possible name is still taken. The 3 boxes still light up as you're logging in and it still says "Welcome!" on a successful connect.
I used AOL for the first time many many years ago back when BBSs ruled and the only commerical online services were CompuServ, Prodigy, INN, and the few others. AOL wasn't even connected to the internet at this time. But it was still amazing to connect with that 2400 baud modem and browse through the download sections and all the discussion boards.
